Instructor: Bamboo Gardens Staff Location: Ask at our sales counter for the location on our premises This introduction to bamboo will cover planting, fertilizing, pruning and ways to control the spread. We will talk about how to deal with the few bamboo pests and will explain specific care requirements for each season. To provide a better understanding of the different bamboo species, we will tour the gardens and take a closer look.
Instructor: Bamboo Gardens Staff Location: Ask at our sales counter for the location on our premises Bamboo is loveliest when it receives above ground pruning as well as root pruning. We will demonstrate how much to remove in a three year or older stand of bamboo and where it is best to make the cuts. We will also talk about the best times to do this pruning.
No Fee to Attend Instructor: Mary Peterson , Bamboo Gardens Staff Location: Workshop on our premises This session will be an introduction to the techniques of using bamboo poles, tie wires and a twist tool to construct a trellis. The use of the twister tool will be demonstrated with an opportunity to practice lashing poles together. This easy-to-master technique will encourage you to create your own structures.
Location: Ask at our sales counter for the location on our premises There has been an explosion of available choices of ornamental grasses. Some prefer moist soil, others semi-shade, others are native to Eastern Washington. Heights, colors and textures also vary. This workshop will offer possibilities best for your situation. It will also cover planting tips and general care.
No Fee to Attend Instructor: Mary Peterson, Bamboo Gardens Staff Location: Ask at our sales counter for the location on our premises A water feature for your garden or deck adds a soothing dimension to your outdoor-scape. Creating it yourself makes it even more special. This workshop will provide some popular design ideas for a basin water feature. Mary will also demonstrate the basics of constructing an in-the-ground display using pond liner, a pump and other accessories.
No Fee to Attend Instructor: Bamboo Gardens Staff Location: Water Garden area on our premises A good way to explore your interests in water gardening is to start small before digging a hole for the pond. Depending upon the size of your container there are many fun, attractive ways to combine plants with various colors and textures. We will introduce you to plant choices, their needs and tips for setting up your display. If you have a group interested in a tour of the gardens and/or a presentation by our staff, just ask. We'll do our best to arrange a time convenient to your group. |
