Shrub Bamboos
Shrub bamboos are shorter than 10 feet. Most look best year round with some shade. All have running rhizomes.

Native to America. Short, lush and bushy. A rare shorter bamboo which tolerates full sun but looks best in part to full shade.
Most handsome variegated leaves of all bamboos. Holds the varigation all year. Super container specimen.
Moderate spreader for shady areas. Leaves 24" long by 4" wide. Use for tropical look.
Very narrow leaves lightly striped with white.
Large, handsome leaves. Native to the Kuril Islands. Vigorous spreading.
Excellent under trees or as potted specimen by shady front door. Big dramatic leaves.
Abundant leaves held neatly and closely together. Leaves smaller than Palmata. Handsome as a low hedge in partial shade.
Graceful, beautiful dwarf. Broad, short leaves held in threes on slender stems. Prefers acid soil; shows leaf burn in alkaline soil.
