During this past winter we have definitely not been hibernating!! Behind the scenes, winterizing activities have been keeping us very busy.
You will enjoy visiting our enhanced display gardens this spring. Andrew and his crew, Saijo & Ryan, have created two curvilinear landscaped ponds. The purpose of these ponds is to provide additional surface water retention on our property demonstrating the symbiosis of practicality and beauty.
As I talk to people when I am out and about they tell me that they would enjoy having bamboo in a container on their patio or porch. We are in the process of designing a modular container with removable sides. It is always our priority when containing bamboos to provide necessary room for growth and for rhizome maintenance. As the concept develops, we do appreciate your ideas and suggestions. We hope that when Jim turns in his Boeing badge this spring, he will become the onsite carpenter.
Driving to Bamboo Gardens is easier now. The Department of Transportation has also been working hard during the winter months. They have increased the stretch of highway leading to Bamboo Gardens from 2 to 4 lanes. They also added a left-turn land from westbound Hwy 202 to 196th Ave SE well ahead of schedule. We commend them for the positive ways that they are improving our local environment. The wetland mitigation sites they have created serve to ensure that neighbors will not be flooded downstream. – Rainy Husband
