Construction Tools & Supplies

Our saws, splitting knives and carving knives have been carefully selected by our bamboo crafts-people. Consider using these to turn dried bamboo poles into a trellis, a gate, a fence or a work of art. See Books we sell for construction tips. Also, watch for our Spring and Summer Workshop schedule. See our twist tool and tie wires which greatly simplify constructing a fence or trellis.

Eva Grip Saw

Bamboo Splitting Knife

To divide poles in half or smaller sections, this oak-handled tool is a must.

Bamboo Carving Knife

After trying various knives, our staff readily chose this one as the best for carving, whittling or cutting thin strips. The blade slips neatly into a wooden sheath. 9 1/4 inches long (5 3/8 inch blade) $33.95

Tie Wires

The use of tie wires is one method of lashing together bamboo poles to construct a fence or trellis. These galvanized, metal wires have a small loop at each end to permit easy wrap-around and tightening with a twister tool. The technique takes a bit of practice, but is not difficult.

Ask for a demonstration and/or an instruction sheet. Palm twine can be added on top to hide the wire.

Sold in bundles of 100 wires.

  • 12 inches long $4.50
  • 16 inches long $5.50
  • 24 inches long $6.50
